classroom
The
girls spend the greatest amount of their waking
hours in the classroom.
They attend Harbor Christian
School, a non-charter private school operated and
staffed by Harbor House. The teachers are volunteers
and meet one-on-one with their students, usually
once a week. The girls stay enrolled in their home
school and usually use the same textbooks that they
would if they were back home.
Equipment including
two computers has been donated by various individuals
and groups.
bathrooms
One
of three lavatories on the residential floor, this
full bath is known by the residents as "the pink
bathroom." It is equipped with a shower stall (state
regulations do not permit bathtubs in maternity
homes), stool and sink. The bathroom was decorated
by Allen and Mary Heindel of Celina.
There is one more full bath ("the
green bathroom") and a half-bath (technically a
staff bathroom due to state regulations).
piano/sitting
area
This
area, which is not really a room but actually a
wide spot in the hallway between the living room
and Client Services, consists of a loveseat and
chair for sitting and a donated piano for the girls'
enjoyment. Behind the loveseat a row of windows
provides natural light on sunny days.
